Swiss singer, multi-instrumentalist and film composer Sophie Hunger has shared 'Alpha Venom' - the expansive lead single from her new album Halluzinationen. Conceptualised in collaboration with the incredible Dan Carey, who produced and put together a live band for the album, 'Alpha Venom', is a fascinating listen. There's an incredible sense of restraint to the track as a motorik 'Hallogallo'-esque rhythm section manage to stay grounded as dramatic strings, stirring chord changes, wiry guitars and some frankly weird sound effects all stand to steer the song of course. Hunger's vocal performance is comparatively calm, particularly towards the end. The instrumentation grows wilder and wilder, partaking in emphatic stop-start sections, which ensure that you're paying attention. Halluzinationen will arrive on the 28th of August via Caroline International. -Holly Mullineaux
